There is a simple answer to this.
The priority to support Audio Units is not so high at the moment.
This does not mean that it won't happen.
There are more important things to do for the mac platform and they will come first.

If VST3 gets anywhere close to what was said there, AU support would be
a no-brainer to add to that engine (or write a wrapper, which would
basically be an Opcode-converter, so my impression). Well, that was
back in May or so and not official, so I can't say for sure.

Perhaps, yes, but I assume it might take some time before the VST3 spec
if finalized. And then it'll take some time after that to provide the AU
support on top of that. So to me it sounds like it'll take some time and
that the exclusion of AU even in SX 2.0 is a kind of strategy.

the exclusion of AU in SX is not really strategy i think ... why would you
do
it at this point.
there are like 10 or so audiounits which are not available for VST, compared

to the opposite case thats a minor problem.
sure, zebra or airy synth are nice, but they are 2 of 150.

lets look at the market using fxpansion as an example ... :))
- the first thing people requested was using VST plug-ins in logic.
- the next thing people will get is a wrapper which lets them use VST in
protools.
what i personally still miss, is TDM support in steinberg hosts, many of you
know
why that never happened.

of course the question "but why not" is understandable... it is easy to make

and it is mac system standart ... just as DX ... i agree that it would have
been
time to support the natural hires.
but what i wonder more: where are the steinberg instruments and effects
for audiounit interface ???
if _that is not strategy, it must be something like preparations for a big
surprise party.
