I reported a similar issue in a bug report to Digidesign. I am awaiting their answer.
I know there are two problems - command line apps and X11 apps can't register as clients in the "Setup" dialog box, to the best of my knowledge.
Even some GUI apps, even though registered, just won't play, no matter how system preferences or AudioMidiSetup
utiliy is configured.

Hi,

My app uses the DefaultAudioUnit.

A user claims that it impossible to get any sound from it after installing the most recent CoreAudio driver for Digidesign 001

Is there a known problem with this driver and the DefaultAudioUnit or is it just a system setting he is missing?

Thanks for any help
