Well, the USB MIDI controlers I know have at least an "internal" destination
endpoint to send sysex to etc, however they are mainly used by a sysex
utility, and all the channels are totaly ignored. Having them showing up in a
mixer is pretty lame.
lets imagine a school case, I have plugged in:
+ 1 EZBus (1 in/out for the MIDI controler, 2 in/outs for external MIDI
connectors (unused))
+ 1 Evolution MK-225C (1 in/out for the MIDI controler, 1 in/out for the
external connector)
+ 1 Evolution UC-33 (1 in/out for the MIDI controler, 1 out for the external
connector (unused))
+ 1 Edirol SC-8820 (2 in/outs for the 2*16 channels, 1 in/out for the external
connector (unused))
Nowadays, if Jeremy's application tries to guess which ports are available
using the old bitmap method, it gets... NONE in panther.
If he ignores the property and decide they are all candidate, I end up with
*160* channels in my mixer. And thats not even counting the new IAC
channels...
While really, I'd really need the 32 of the roland, thats all...
