What about a scriptable midi server?

Hello. My name is Andris and I do some high level programming for fun,
mainly appescript.
There are some legacy products that don't have midi editors/librarians for
OSX, and even OS9. One example is the JStation amp modeller.
On OS9 there was the Soundapp freeware, which you could use via Applescript
as a server to send OMS midi messages, the only drawback being that you had
a limit on size so you couldn't send long sysex (this could be solved if you
could communicate with the server thru files instead of applescript
variables).
I thought that if you have such an application/daemon, you could use
Applescript Studio to easily do editors/librarians and other non realtime
applications, maybe some realtime too.
Is there such an application on existence? Maybe it's a cool project to do.
Thanks for the time, and sorry if this is too newbie too you :-)
Regards, Andris
