Hi. I put a bunch of my more reusable AU development/hosting code into a
library that's easy for anyone to use:

The most important part of the library is stuff for handling AU preset
files. Some of you AU host makers out there have heard from me recently,
trying to urge you to make some changes to interface better with the
standardized, centralized AU preset file locations in Mac OS X. I decided
(since I already had much of what was necessary written) to just make a
library that any host developer could easily integrate into their host and
then get good, consistent, simple behavior without having to do hardly any
work.
I think that the whole centralized preset file location thing in Mac OS X
is really great and something that musicians have always wanted. If the
whole point of plugins is interoperability, that we can use the same
plugin in any audio app, the same should go for their settings, too,
right? Now that's finally the case, but only if host apps will adhere to
these practices and make it possible, and easy, for musicians to benefit
from this. So I really hope that host authors will use the system that I
devised to that nice sharing and access of plugin settings can become a
reality for musicians in OS X.

requests, makes interesting changes, etc., please let me know!
