Actually the boot chime control is not back in 10.3.x either (at least
not in any of the 10.3.4 builds I looked at).
Rudy, are you checking for errors when you access the boot chime
properties? For instance, HALLab's boot chime volume slider is disabled
for me on 10.3.4 systems. This means that there the control doesn't
exist and the HAL is returning errors when HALLab accesses the
property.

Yeah, they were removed because they were never documented and no one
said that they were using them, plus they would be overridden by the
volume control (still are), so if you adjusted the boot volume, then
the volume, the volume adjustment would override the boot specific
setting.
They're back for 10.3.x (unclear if x == 0 or if it's only on later
versions). Just make sure you set them last. :-)
