Thanks for your answer.
It was the same host (RAX 1.04) and the AU was obviously consuming more
since I could run a few more instances of (wrapped)VST than I could AU.
Also I tried disabling segments of code (like osc, filter etc) and it was
clear that each _segment_ was consuming more than the VST version. Could
it be something like how the FPU is set up?
