GraphicEQ AudioUnit [two is trouble]

Hi,
When I add Apple's GraphicEQ AudioUnit to a AUGraph or connect it with an AUConnection, the stream of buffers seems to get a bit fussy. Let me explain further. I got an app that has a graph for midi stream, and a graph for audio (microphone). When both have their own GraphicEQ, the buffers coming out of my speakers is $%^& junky. When I instantiate only a midi part in my app all is fine and if I instantiate only an audio part in my app all is fine. This has got to be a memory issue? Right?
