USB audio input

Hello All,

I am seeing a strange failure with a USB input-only audio device. When
the Mac goes to sleep while the device is streaming, it will
occasionally fail on wake-up or fail immediately upon entering sleep.

When the failure occurs, a short piece of the incoming audio stream (a
few frames?) begins looping continuously. Unplugging the device kills
the audio loop, but the system activity then slams immediately to
98-100% and the machine must be rebooted.

The event has occurred on two different PowerBooks (15" and 17") both
running OSX (10.3.2).

The problem has never been duplicated on a Windows machine, so I'm
wondering if our current UI is violating something in the CoreAudio api
(I'm posting this to CoreAudio and USB lists). But that's just a guess;
it could easily be an interaction with the device firmware.

Any clues as to where to sniff for smoke?

Mark Rowan
