Hmmm, that's not true, is it? I thought it was established that a beat
value of 0 corresponds to the start of a song, right?
Moreoever, in either case, you still have to make an educated guess unless
the user has started song playback from the beginning of the song. If
playback begins at any other point, the best you can do is assume that
there have been no time signature changes prior to that point. But if
there have been, then there's no way for a plugin to know which bar you're
at. This is true in AU and VST.
