Airy had the good idea of building an AU with -DAU_DEBUG_DISPATCHER=1
It gives the host developer good feedback on what they're asking the AU
to do and in what order.
I found it helpful with just the SampleEffect AU.

Hallo Stefan!
I *would* use AudioUnitEvents for BeginParameterChangeGesture and
EndParameterChangeGesture notifications if certain hosts supported
them (Does any? - Dunno).
Logic will support it soon, I've already done most of the work for it.
Cool 8-)
I would really need that in all hosts that do parameter automation. I
have a case where the AU itself has to fire events for recording
automation, even if the AUView is closed (havn't tried to use the
mousing notifications, the gesture events sound way more plausible
here).
It's a pity that there's no hoval!
Certainly it would be nice to have some sophisticated diagnostic AU
for checking our hosts.
Yeah, but I don't think it can say as much about the host
implementation as auval can find out about plugins.
Cheers,
;) Urs
