streaming audio

Hi,
I need to write some code to output audio which is received from a server over a network.
The format of the audio data is similar to a wav file - signed 16-bit samples.
The data comes over the network in 0.25 second chunks

Is there any sample code or a tutorial to show me how to do this?
Or even just the names of some functions and data structures I need to look up?

Thanks in advance,
--
Paul
