Well, I just got the new auval program, and it fails validations there (so it won't show up even in Logic 7).

Here's a couple snippets from the output:

VERIFYING DEFAULT SCOPE FORMATS:
Input Scope Bus Configuration:
Default Bus Count:1
Default Format: AudioStreamBasicDescription: 2 ch, 44100 Hz, 'lpcm' (0x0000002B) 32-bit big-endian float, deinterleaved

Output Scope Bus Configuration:
Default Bus Count:1
Default Format: AudioStreamBasicDescription: 2 ch, 44100 Hz, 'lpcm' (0x0000002B) 32-bit big-endian float, deinterleaved

ERROR: Default Format of unit does not match reported Channel handling capabilities
* * FAIL

...

FORMAT TESTS:

Input/Output Channel Handling:
1-1 1-2 1-4 1-5 2-2 2-4 2-5 4-4 4-5 5-5 5-2 6-6 8-8
X
...
BAD FORMAT: bad channels per frame
DebugAssert: Third Party Client: ValidFormat(inScope, inElement, newDesc) InvalidFormat [line 708, file /Software Development/SDKs/FXpansion/Modified Apple Files/AUBase.cpp]
ERROR: Unit now reports it cannot support default channel configuration (it previously reported that it did): in:2, out:2

I don't see where else it supposedly reports that it accepts 2 I/O channels, but that's what the messages seem to indicate. (There's apparently some "default" format involved somewhere?)

Any thoughts where I might be going wrong?

I'd reinforce what Stefan said... I've a mono-mono AU and it:
(1) Does basically what Marc posted
(2) Doesn't show up anywhere but where a mono AU is usable

Hi Howard,

But it still shows up in the menu of a stereo track in DP4, and in the
mono->stereo menu in Logic.
There must be something else involved somewhere...?
The code snippet looks ok, so I think there's maybe some other problem.
Did you run auval on your AU? It prints a list of possible I/O configs
too.
What does it show?

Best,
Stefan
