Can anyone tell me what the likely cause of this message is?
The only thing unusual I did recently was upgrade an M-Audio
Audiophile FireWire driver.
Sounds like the MIDIServer process is crashing when it starts up.
That's most likely due to a bug in a MIDI driver, or some bad
interaction between different drivers.
Try removing all your MIDI drivers, then add them back one by one and
see which one starts causing problems. They'll be in
~/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers or /Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers.
(Obviously, if you think you know which one is at fault, try moving
that one aside first.)
You might also check for crash logs in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter ...
I don't know if a MIDIServer crash will put a log there or not, but
it's worth checking. The backtrace might give you enough information
to figure out where the crash is happening.
