Hi folks,
I got word that the project was causing a loud buzz for some folks
(well, I did say it made sound)... ;-) One goof that I found was
that the project I'd posted earlier didn't have my intended version
of the Render() function. That has now been corrected and posted
(http://www.fourwayrecords.com/sw/). Still, having nothing but the
built-in audio of my PowerBook to test on, I have no idea how it will
work on other systems. If a more experienced pair of eyes would have
a glance at my Render() function and let me know if anything looks
funky, I'd really appreciate it.
One intermittent problem I'm noticing is that when I start up AU Lab
and insert one of my template-built music devices, I will get no
sound whatsoever except for an initial pop. Closing the document and
opening a new one has always (thus far) resulted in successful audio
generation. I'd appreciate any clues here as well.
Thanks,
Bill

Hi everyone,
In response to the overwhelming demand (that's at least one person
besides me), I have posted a new MusicDevice project template for
Xcode 2.1 / CoreAudio SDK 1.41 / Tiger. More useful than the
previous one I made for Panther, in addition to simply passing
validation, this one actually generates sound! It's a no-frills,
stupid-simple monophonic synth with a parameter for selecting one
of the four basic waveform food groups (sine, triangle, sawtooth,
square). Again, it's a carbon view and will work in composite and
non-composite modes. At the very least, it should be a good
starting point for some folks, or so I hope. And hey, I wouldn't
mind if you pressed the "mystery button" either... ;-)
Please visit http://www.fourwayrecords.com/sw/ to download. Thanks!
Enjoy,
Bill
P.S. Feedback encouraged and welcomed. Caveat: it has only been
tested on a PowerBook G4 Titanium 550, but seems to work just fine
thus far...
