John,

We aren't supporting the CAJava code going forward (we haven't for quite some time). However, we did put all of this code in the CA SDK, so we wouldn't leave those developers using it without a way to continue to move forward.

Hi John

Perhaps you need Plumstone? This enables Mac Java programs to use the standard javax.sound.midi package rather than making non- portable calls to Core Midi. In particular, a call to MidiSystem.getMidiDevices () returns a list of all attached MIDI devices.

Find Plumstone on my web-site:

BTW, I recommend you move to Java 1.4.2 - or, even better, upgrade to Tiger and Java 1.5

Cheers

I'm currently using 10.3.8 and SDK 1.3 - has any additional java midi support been implemented since then? Specifically, has a java equivalent of the very handy CoreAudio::MIDIObjectFindByUniqueID() been implemented?

All that iterating through Devices, ExternalDevices, and MIDISetup gets just a little irritating.
