Developing AC-3 Decoder

  • Subject: Developing AC-3 Decoder

Hey Gang:

I have been helping produce a Core Audio AC-3 decoder. I have a working 2-channel decoder, based off the open source project liba52.

However, with the newer multichannel support in Tiger, I decided it was time to go ahead and hook up for full 5.1 channel support.

My main problem at this time is that the AC-3 AudioFile component reports to me that the source I have is 5 channel (taken from the AudioStreamBasicDescription passed in). However, the decoder library reports that it is actually 5.1 sound.

How can I go about fixing this? Will I have to belly up and write my own AC-3 AudioFile component? Is there a setting I am missing?

Thanks!

-jake
