cross platform MIDI libraries

Is anyone aware of a cross platform MIDI library with solid Mac CoreMIDI support, and good windows support?
Our requirements are mostly fairly straightforward, no SYSEX etc, but needs to be responsive under fairly heavy load (fairly fast heavy polyphony) and solid and stable. Obj C libraries fine, but need to be cross platform, so I imagine most candidates are plain C.
We are currently using portmidi, and finding a few issues with it (including an unmaintained Mac port).
