QuickTime now slow time?

I am not sure if this is a general thing or just something weird about my system but suddenly I am noticing that quicktime is no longer snappy and responsive to the play controls. Now I am getting about a 1 and 1/2 or 2 second lag between hitting play and the sound actually starting and that is regardless of the file format.

Is this something others are seeing?

Is it just me?

Maybe I have too many codecs installed or something?
