AU state & MaximumFramesPerSlice

Hello,

It appears that several AU plug-ins state will change after their kAudioUnitProperty_MaximumFramesPerSlice or their sample rate is changed. This state change causes the current program/patch/sound to be replaced with the default sound. This may be due to the fact that they have to be uninitialized and re-initialized before these settings can be made.

However I hear that Apple's Logic product saves and restores the plug-ins state before changing these properties. So, Apple, is this part of the AU specification? Does a host have to save and restore the plug-ins state simply because the sample rate or frame size changes?

Jeremy
