Amy:
Well, you can of course get a Mac Mini and install XP on it. I've
been procrastinating on installing XP on mine. Takes up almost no
space and is reputed in some benchmarks on the net to be nearly as
fast or faster than that space eating dual G5 tower in the corner,
depending on the task it is put to.
Artemiy:
I was trying for some humor about visuals .vs. sound, I only
occasionally whip out my credit card for cool looking commercial
synths - I got lucky once - a Waldorf MicroQ, bought purely for the
Porsche signal yellow color, I was lucky it also is a great synth.
But I've spent many days downloading and trying out demos of
commercial stuff and been fairly disappointed.
Roman:
Thanks for the suggestions. I was under the impression there were
some distribution limitations with SonicBirth, but maybe I'm wrong.
Will look into max msp, and try to see what is under the thin veneer
of capitalism before I buy the next cool thing ;-)
...
Thanks to all for the interesting comments, and I'm looking forward
to seeing what new and interesting products, freeware and commercial,
that everybody on the list is developing. Feel free to put me on your
mailing lists if you are releasing any kind of audio software, it
won't go in the spam box.
