At the time of the design, we were unclear whether there was
sufficient interest from 3rd parties to provide
an external API.  I believe this wouldn't be difficult to do; however.

Just to reiterate Jeremy and others -- getting at the audio coming from QuickTime would be insanely great, as the saying goes.


There is already a bug report/feature request, so this need is officially filed. But for those of us creating applications that allow real-time manipulation of video files, getting at the _synchronized_ audio being produced by those videos is very important.
