I have successfully integrated writing loop markers to sound files

them). I am setting the marker name using CFSTR("marker name") for
now, but the umlaut characters get converted like this in QuickTime
and any other application that can display marker names:
"Dies ist ein längerer hübscher schöner Markername" ->
"Dies ist ein längerer hübscher schöner Markername"
What can I do so the names are displayed as they should?
My guess is that you're using utf-8 for encoding the umlaut and CFSTR
is probably expecting MacRoman. You should try CFStringCreate() (or
whatever the name of that function is) and use the flag specifying
that it is utf-8. Or, you could use MacRoman in your source code.
Ah, I just noticed that in the CFString.h header, this little comment
about CFSTR():
At this point non-7 bit characters (that is, characters > 127) in
CFSTR() are not
supported and using them will lead to unpredictable results. This
includes escaped
(\nnn) characters whose values are > 127. Even if it works for you in
testing,
it might not work for a user with a different language preference.
