Alvin and the Chipmunks

I have a bluetooth microphone that I want to use with garageband....

The mic pairs OK and even looks like it is recording OK in garageband (nice waveform shows up as I record, etc.)

When I stop, however, the graphic for the audio shrinks to a fraction of its former self and the sound played back sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks.

I can change an output setting(?) or a frame rate setting (???), then change it back and the recorded sound now seems to record OK and plays OK but with a lot of loss of quality to compared to recording in, say, peak. (when I record in peak, I do not get very good quality with core audio settings though).

The waveform pattern that displays when I record also looks nice and robust but when I stop, it seems to get "skinny"

I'm guessing the problem lies with the 8kHz sample rate that come in via Bluetooth and a less than robust interface to the audio system but I don't know.

Here are my questions?

is it possible for me to create an audio driver that uses the standard bluetooth device but up samples the sound to, say, 44.1kHz. that I can add it to the IO list that doesn't sound too bad?

Is there some better, easier way to make the bluetooth mic work better with Garageband in particular and other audio programs in general?

Did Alvin ever get his hoola hoop?
