Compressed Wave files and AudioFileGetProperty

Hi,

I found something odd.  If you call AudioFileGetProperty (audioFileID, kAudioFilePropertyDataFormat, &dataSizeSize, &fileDescription) on a compressed wave file you get back all zeros in the format structure and noErr is returned.  The file format is WAVE.  How do you deal with this kind of file on CoreAudio?  How do I figure out it is compressed etc? The PublicUtility player freaks out when given this file, but Quicktime can handle it.

Thanks!
