Virtual Device Questions

  • Thread-topic: Virtual Device Questions

I'm new w/ Core Audio, so please forgive me if these are obvious.

Is there a core audio API for creating and managing aggregate/virtual
devices?
Also, is it possible to create a virtual device that uses fewer channels
than what the device supports (e.g. Create a virtual device using just 2
channels of an 8 channel audio output, so that the 2 channels are accessible
to any core-audio app)

Thanks,
Mike
