Given my recent experience, I would advise agains AudioConverter on MP3 files. Search this mailing list, and you will find that there are calls of the AudioConverter that will hang -- and not return -- when used on some not-so-perfect MP3 files. Unfortunately, you can not tell beforehand.


As I have settled on the AudioConverter, I am currently launching a seperate task which I kill after a timeout.

I will be glad to provide more information, both on this problem or on MP3 to PCM conversion (which is what I am doing) if you should decide to use the AudioConverter
