CoreAudio and bluetooth

  • Subject: CoreAudio and bluetooth

Hi,

My application uses CoreAudio for audio input from various sources. I've experiencing several problems with bluetooth devices. Most of all I have problems handling error situations correctly:

- Bluetooth is off. Unlike other audio devices, bluetooth devices also appear as audio devices if bluetooth is not enabled. So far ok.
If I call AudioOutputUnitStart(), noErr is returned but a dialog panel appears on screen:

"There was an error connecting to your headset. Make sure it is turned on and in range. The audio portion of the program you were using may have to be restarted."

-> The user does know that there was a problem, but the application does not. Is there a way to catch this obvious error and inform the application to reconfigure itself? Is there any property that can be listened for?

Thanks for any information

Hannes Friederich
