Hi all, I'm looking to convert data coming in from a sequence
grabber into mp3 on the fly.
My current setup uses the sequence grabber component by way of the
SGAudio code to save the aifc directly to disk. Once the recording
is finished, I open up the pre-installed lame mp3 component, get
the atom settings, put the aifc data into a quicktime movie, then
save the movie out again using the atom settings. That works
nicely, but it requires time for the conversion once the recording
is finished.
Is it possible to hook my mp3 component directly into the sequence
grabber so that it converts the incoming data on the fly, writing
it out to disk as it goes? I figure this would be a task often
required, but I'm not sure how to go about it.
You could do this if you repackaged your mp3 encoder as a CoreAudio
Audio Encoder component ('aenc' / '.mp3'). There's a sample audio
encoder component in /Developer/Examples/CoreAudio/AudioCodecs/Codecs/
IMA4. If you get stuck, you could ask the core audio engineers for
help at email@hidden. The WhackedTV sample app
shows how to select a compressed output audio format.
