  • Thread-topic: Localizing AU Name

Hi Folks,

Near as I can tell, the name of the plugin as presented by hosts is taken
from the component name defined in the AU resources.

I have determined that if you localize your .r file in Xcode, you get a
localized name from the Component manager.

So far so good.

The question is -- if I want to localize the name to not be Mac Roman, how
do I do it? I tried UTF-8 in the .r file but that did not appear to work, I
got garbage characters.

What encoding is the AU name expected in. How does one make an AU with a
name written in, say, Japanese characters. I was hoping I would just define
the name using a UTF-8 string and all would work, but alas, this does not
seem to be the case; I have determined that my Japanese resources are being
loaded, but the encoding is wrong.

Thanks in advance for any insight...

Best regards,

B.J. Buchalter
