Examples on how to use stereo mixer?

I cant seem to find any examples on how to use the stereo mixer. I want to implement the same mixer all the other apps have - one with 4 effects inserts, solo, mute, volume controls - all routed to stereo bus with master volume control, in turn routed to some physical output. Any tips would be welcome.
