WARNING - contains mild cynicism and moderate sarcasm.
MOTU technical support have confirmed to me that they do not support
Cocoa UI's. (It took them over a month to do it, so it must be the
right answer;-))
I would strongly suggest that you make your presence known to them by
asking the question, even if you already know the answer. You know
the problem: "No, we don't stock that brand of dog food as there's no
call for it. Funny though, you're the fourth person this week to ask
about it."
If enough people show incredulity that they don't support it, maybe
they'll put it on their to do list....
For what it's worth, DP doesn't seem to interrogate the AU for part
parameters either. At this point I gave up and built Apple's sample
code "bare bones" audio device driver, intending to do a simple
loopback solution that let me run my Cocoa UI AU in its standalone
host, routing MIDI from DP to that, and audio back again.
This reliably crashed DP (and only DP) during initialisation. When I
asked MOTU support about this, they recommended I use Soundflower
instead. This did indeed work a treat - with everything except with
DP, which stubbornly refused to read anything except silence from the
Soundflower device. If this is supposed to be the market leader, I'm
not impressed....
