It looks like somebody's user-land audio driver is attempting to
open a component. This isn't something that the HAL does, so it
pretty much means that it's a third party driver. You'd need to
find out what driver it is from the user.

Sound like there is some software installed on those machines that
is causing problems for core audio.
If you can get a system profiler report of the affected machine,
and send It to me I can see if I can help spot the culprit.
Since sending Matt the System Profiles I've collected for this issue,
I have hacked together an ugly script that lets me do a slightly
saner comparison of these profiles.
Using that script I have determined that every System Profile I've
been sent for a freezing machine includes the following software:
- Soundtrack / Soundtrack Pro
- Apple Loops Utility
- LiveType
Whereas the non-freezing machines do not have any of this software
installed.
I have sent a request to my user mailing list asking if anyone can
provide a counter-example (a profile for a machine that exhibits the
freeze without any of the above software installed). While I wait to
see if anyone responds, do those applications provide any hints as to
what may be causing this issue?
Thanks,
Chris
