From page 6.15 of the August 1992 version of the Kurzweil K2000R manual:


"Fine Hz
"This measures pitch adjustment by the relative frequency (in Hertz) of each note. This is useful for controlling the beat frequency between layers in a multi-layered program. Using this parameter to detune chorusing layers will keep the beat frequency constant across much of the keyboard."


"keep the beat frequency constant" - almost a verbatim statement of the situation!
