I have an Audio Unit plug-in made, which works fine for me (on my
OS X 10.4 mac mini) in AU Lab, Garage Band and Ableton Live 6. It
installs into the /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder.
However, one of our beta-testers reports that it doesn't show up
in his hosts (AU Lab and Peak4) on his OS
X 10.3.9 mac powerbook. He also says its installed into computer/
library/audio/plug-ins/components.
There is no difference in audio unit locations. I would rather
think that you built your AU with a wrong 10.4-specific SDK. Check
the Target SDK setting in your project info window. It is probably
set to "current Mac OS" or "10.4". Set it to 10.3.9 and it should
work.
This is incorrect because Intel architecture AUs are not supported in
the 10.3.9 SDK. The target *SDK* you want is "Mac OS X 10.4
(Universal)" but you want a different *deployment* target. You
should set the "Mac OS X Deployment Target" setting in the build
configuration options for your target to "Mac OS X 10.3."
