Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I'll forward my query to the Logic forum.

The AU's performance seems fine under Ableton Live, AULab, Bias Peak, and Garage Band. The performance problem only seems to be in Logic.

Paul

Paul

Can you also try your AU in AULab - what is the performance like there?

Paul,

This might be better addressed to the logic team. It's hard to speculate as to why you would get less performance under logic. Please post your message on the logic forum.

Hope this helps,

Michael

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the correct mailing list for this, so please forgive me if it isn't.

I have an AU which is fairly graphically intensive (its a metering plug-in). It seems to perform reasonably well under Ableton Live, but under Logic, it is jerky and unresponsive. To try to investigate I have added some profiling code to log out the number of times a function is called in each 10 second period, and how much time was spent in that function.

I found that the most time-consuming functions were my more elaborate graphical display functions, which wasn't a surprise, but strangely I found that under Ableton, these functions were hit more often, but took less time than they did under Logic. The gui of my AU is built using vstgui.

It seems as if the graphical performance of my plug is very dependant on what AU host it's running under, but I don't know what could cause this.

Thanks for any help.

Paul
