There's a built-in AudioUnit that does pitch and/or speed shifting. (I don't remember the name; look through the header that lists all the AU types.)

It's called AUTimePitch (kAudioUnitSubType_TimePitch), you can change the pitch without affecting the speed or vice versa.

However, I was under the impression from the original email that Sam wanted a function he could call with a chunk of data and have the pitch changed.
