Just for the record (and the list archive), there is a replacement template for the broken AudioUnit with Cocoa View Xcode template (bug #5619322 reopened as #6126798) available for download from my personal web site/code repository at

    http://stephan.bernsee.com/BetterCocoaAU.zip

Requires Xcode 3.1 but should work with other (newer) versions as well.
