At best, an application might present the user with a button or some
other interface which attempts to set the device to the desired
sample rate (i.e. this is a substitute for Audio MIDI Setup).
However, your application should only try to set the sample rate once
per user input click, and in addition your application should be
prepared for the possibility that the resulting sample rate is not
what was asked for. As Jeff says, by no means should you react to a
sample rate change notification by automatically initiating a new
sample rate change request.
