So maybe because this topic is popping up again and again, it is the time
for the vendor to re-evaluate its position with respect to this matter.
Adding 2 simple options to standard applications (iTunes, Quicktime etc)
would remove a lot of irritation and would clear the issue.
Option 1: Use device SR as you do today but at user's discretion set device
SR to SR of the track about to play. Remember user's choice.
Option 2: Use default audio device as you do today but allow the user to
select another device and optionally allow the user to require that the
device should be used exclusively while playing. Remember user's choice.
This is what DVD Player does.
Because both are optional they will not affect users expecting/requiring
current behaviour.
