Setting properties on audio units

  • Subject: Setting properties on audio units

Hi,

I'm working with AUGraph to create a relatively complex wiring of audio file player units, time pitch units, generic output units and subgraphs that feed into a stereo mixer to create a stereo mixdown. I am unclear on the rules around setting properties on the units. For example, when can I set the audio stream basic descriptions on the file player and time pitch units? After they are opened, but before they are connected to each other? I get errors if I try to set this property on the units after they have been connected. Other properties seem to require that the audio unit must be initialized and opened first. For example, setting the scheduled regions property fails if the file player unit is not first initialized. Can you initialize a unit before it is connected to another unit in the graph? Are these rules outlined anywhere?
