You can also do the following in your Xcode project settings and not have to mess with symlinks or manual copying:

Installation Build Products Location:  /
Installation Location:  $(HOME)/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
Deployment Location:  enabled
Deployment Postprocessing:  enabled
