As I said in my other post, this rather unfortunately worded log
message does not actually signify that an error has taken place. To my
knowledge, it generally will come up when a second process has started
using the same device as another process. The IOAudio family is
specifically logging when the clip position had to be moved backward
to accommodate starting the second process at a point in time that for
the first process had already clipped.
I'd be surprised if this log message had anything to do with your
synchronization problem.

Occasionally when opening a QuickTime movie, we see this error in
the console:
"IOAudioStream[0x42d2b00]::clipIfNecessary() - Error: attempting to
clip to a position more than one buffer ahead of last clip position"
Following this there is a good chance the Audio and Video will play
out of sync when we start playback of the movie.
Does anyone have any idea what this error might be caused by ? Its
an environmental issue, not a bug or configuration problem.
We tend to see this at the same time that we notice the movie taking
much longer to open. We are opening over an NFS network connection
so we think both observations point to a network related issue.
