I don't think it is recommended for iPhone development, and I hope Bill could see this mail and tell us some plan about the next release of Audio Unit and Audio Toolbox framework.

I've come across it in some sample code, but in the I can only find mention of it in the Core Audio Overview. The 'SDK Documentation' as downloaded from http://developer.apple.com/audio/Core_Audio_SDK_Documentation.zip does not seem to mention it.
