hello john
tx alot for your contact
you were actually one of 2 person that i was most interested in
contacting along with doug wyatt ( i suppose you were refering to him ;)
i came across the documents u made some time ago but as it seems doug
implementation in apple midi is slighly different (it seems you
confirm this as well)
and i was trying to interface with his network midi included in osx
and then find if the known windows client also worked with it
do you have any info on this ?
abraços

Hi Nonnus,
There are two layers to the protocol -- the transport layer is
standardized as IETF RFC 4695 and 4696, and is documented here:
http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu/~lazzaro/rtpmidi/index.html
That document describes using the transport with IETF session
managers (RTSP and SIP). These session managers aren't
the best fit for a local-area-network oriented implementation, and
so Apple's session management layer is an Apple-designed protocol.
You'll need to get information about the Apple session management
protocol from Apple, perhaps an Apple employee
will respond to your query (off-list or on-list) ... good luck, I can
answer questions about the two RFCs (I edited them).
