i can't exactly understand auval's output which has different values for "Component Version" and "Comp Vers." the "Res Vers" is the value i expect (so i think i've got the right .r), the "Component Version" is the value i'd expect, the "Comp Vers" value seems impervious to manipulation.

nevermind, i decided "Component Version" actually returns the string from the .r (that was confusing) ... i still can't get
Version() { return theconstant; }
to work...

...hm, moved the project to another machine and it works. time to reinstall something... thankssss
