iPhone and DLS synth

Seems like a long shot, from what I've gleaned from Google, but can it
really be true that the iPhone does not include the DLS Synth? I'd
love to be able to port some music code to the iPhone that uses
CoreAudio's DLS Synth on OSX. Not just because the sounds are pretty
good, but because one can do microtonal adjustments with
MusicDeviceStartNote - I had figured surely basic synth capability
would have made the cut in the iPhone. But apparently not? This would
enable a whole host of nifty apps.
And I know that no one can reveal future plans without risking severe
punishment, but would anyone at Apple like to just ignore all that and
let us know if such a thing could happen?
