I guess so... many people I know keep using Logic 7.x on 10.4.11
because it works very well and its user interface is more responsive
than Logic 8 (so they claim).

As for the 64bit AUs: I have successfully compiled my AU and it works
(in AU Lab 32 bit) and validates well in 32bit mode, however, when I
try "auval -64 -v <id>" it I get

ERROR: Cannot get Component's Name strings
ERROR: Cannot get Component's Info strings
ERROR: Error from retrieving Component Version for resource: 4294964296

I have no idea how to remedy this or what this means. In 32bit mode it
works fine, but when I launch AU Lab in 64bit it can't find the
component either. I am building against the 32/64bit 10.5 SDK for ppc
ppc64 i386 x86_64 as target.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks
