Help deciding what to learn?

Hi,

I want to write a quick-and-dirty application to help me learn songs. I don't want to spend 10 years writing the app and not learning the songs, so I am hoping one of you knowledgeable folks can point me in the right direction.

The sales pitch description of the application is this:

Loads QT content and allows you to set in/out points and loop over the selection. Also slows it down without changing pitch. Other than filesystem navigation etc., all important commands are done by keyboard OR MIDI FOOTPEDAL.

A more detailed outline of what I think I might need to do to make it so is:

Here is an initial swag at some software requirements:

Basic
open and play quicktime content from disk, youtube, random urls, playlist
client/server controllers for
transport control (play, pause, stop, ff, rw, etc.)
media control (volume, eq, contrast/brightness, etc.)
make/read/update location markers in media
loop (auto-loop when outpoint is set)
slow down it
Better
midi controller mapping/editor
subloops?
extend endpoint of loop
name/save sections
video: zoom in, enhance image (contrast/bright?)
audio waveform
Awesome
auto-section based on content analysis

Would anyone here be able to help me wade through the huge amorphous mass of Apple docs and examples to decide what I need to look at/learn/ copy?

I'm thinking that I can get most of "Basic" done using QTKit, while I might have to wrap CoreAudio in Objective-C++ to get AUTimePitch into the situation? (and how to keep audio/video in sync when slowing and slowed?)

I eagerly await the flood of your knowledge! :-)

Seriously - thanks really really much for any direction you can give me. Even if it's "download App <x>, it already does all that".

Regards,
Chris
