Windows Media Player 11 includes audio waveform matching. Songs without metadata are FFT'd in some fashion and identified by waveform characteristics.
Does anyone know if Microsoft has opened up an API for this, or any inside details about their technique?
This is _not_ their digital watermarking technology.
From what I have gleaned so far, they have a large database out there somewhere, possibly maintained in conjunction with Gracenote here in Berkeley.
